How to get to OHP


Observatoire de Haute Provence (OHP) is located in a rather isolated area. The nearest village (2.5 km) is Saint Michel l'Observatoire, about 10 km from Forcalquier and 15 km from Manosque. Please take a look at the available road maps.


Warning
Please note the new limited pick-up arrangements to/from OHP before booking your travel tickets. See below the bus schedules for transportation from Aix-en-Provence or Marseille. Also do not forget to apply for a pass.

  • Visiting scientists : An OHP driver will only be available for short hops to and from Manosque or St.Michel from Monday morning (06h10) through Friday evening (21h45). If you plan to arrive on a week-end, please make arrangements with a Taxi company.
  • Groups : We no longer have vehicles suitable for carrying groups. Please contact a local mini-bus company.

    By railway

    See the SNCF web site. The nearest cities reachable from Paris by high-speed railway (TGV) are Avignon (~90 km), Marseille (~110 km) and Aix en Provence (~80 km). TGV shuttle trains run frequently on this line. In addition, there is a local train which runs between Marseille and Manosque :

    By air

    Marseille-Marignane Airport is located about 80 km from OHP. A bus shuttle service is available between the airport and the bus terminals or the railway stations at Marseille and Aix-en-Provence. Also available is regular bus service to Manosque through the Aix TGV railway station.

    Visitors wishing to use their private car or a rental car will be able to reach OHP year-round. Rental car agencies are located at the Marseille Airport and at the Railway Station. See michelin road maps and simplified road maps.
