Abstract of the colloquium:
Extrasolar planets studies started with the
discovery of 51Peg-b by Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz in 1995, based on
observations performed at Observatoire de Haute Provence, France. As a
tenth-anniversary celebration of this event, eighty astronomers met during a
colloquium, the rich conclusions of which are summarised in this book. The main
focuses of discussions were the nature, origin and evolution of extrasolar
planets orbiting their star in extremely short periods: the so-called "Hot
Jupiters." Most recent observational facts, theoretical advances and
expectations from future observation facilities are included.
